Toshiba to Invest 500 Bln Yen to Increase NAND Flash Production

According to a recent report by the Nihon Keizai Shimbun, Toshiba has plans to invest approximately 500 billion Yen to increase production of NAND flash memory chips by adding a fourth production line at its plant in Yokkoaichi, Japan. The report stated that the new line is expected to start production in 2007, and that it will have a monthly capacity of 100,000 300mm silicon wafers at full production. With the added capacity Toshiba is said to be able to reach a total monthly production of 250,000 300mm wafers by the fiscal year 2008.
